Cookie Policy

Aura Retrofit’s aim is to make energy efficiency simple and achievable, ensuring homes are warmer, bills are lower, and energy use is smarter through property assessments and access to government funding and the grants available to their customers.

This Cookie Policy is provided by Aura Retrofit | Home Heating and Energy Solutions

This policy explains how Aura Retrofit Limited (company number 06349712) uses cookies and similar technologies on auraretrofit.co.uk, and how you can control them.

What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your computer or phone. Some are needed for the website to work. Others help us understand how the site is used, or measure our advertising. We only use the second kind if you agree.

Your choice
When you first visit, we ask you to choose which cookies you accept. You can accept all, reject all except the necessary ones, or choose by category. Until you choose, we set nothing beyond what is strictly necessary. You can change your mind at any time with the “Manage consent” button at the bottom of every page.

Cookies we use

  • Strictly necessary: consent cookies (set by our cookie banner). These remember your cookie choice so we don’t ask on every page. Kept for up to 12 months.
  • Strictly necessary: Wordfence cookies (wfwaf and similar, set by Aura Retrofit). These protect the website from attacks and spam. Kept for up to 1 year.
  • Analytics: _ga and _ga_* (Google Analytics). These count visits and show which pages are used, so we can improve the site. Kept for up to 2 years. Only set if you accept analytics cookies.
  • Marketing: _fbp, _fbc and fr (Meta / Facebook). These tell us whether our Facebook adverts led to a visit or a quote, and let us show our adverts to people who have visited the site. Kept for up to 3 months. Only set if you accept marketing cookies.

Our online quote tool
The quote tool does not set cookies. It counts visits with privacy-friendly analytics that do not identify you or follow you to other websites. Your progress is saved in the web link you are given. If you arrive from one of our adverts, the tool keeps a note of which advert it was in your browser’s session storage. That note is deleted when you close the tab, and it is never used to identify you.

Advertising on Facebook
If you accept marketing cookies, Meta’s pixel tells Meta that a visit, or a request for a quote, came from one of our adverts. Meta may combine this with information it already holds about you if you use Facebook, under Meta’s own privacy policy (facebook.com/privacy/policy). For this part, Meta and Aura Retrofit are joint controllers of the data collected through the pixel. We do not send Meta your name, email address or phone number. You can manage how Meta uses your information for adverts in your Facebook settings under “Ad preferences”.

Change your cookie settings
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time. Switch each type of cookie on or off below, or use the “Manage consent” button at the bottom of any page.

Turning cookies off
Use “Manage consent” at the bottom of any page to change your choice. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The necessary ones will be set again on your next visit, because the site needs them to work.
