Alton, East Hampshire Resident Story 1:
A Warmer, Smarter Home with the Warm Homes: Local Grant for Val

After previously improving her home with loft and cavity wall insulation through the government’s ECO Flex scheme from a different provider, Val discovered an opportunity to take her home’s energy performance even further through the Warm Homes: Local Grant.

Following a BBC news report, her son researched the scheme and identified Aura Retrofit as a trusted local installer with extensive experience delivering government-funded retrofit projects.

A whole-house retrofit assessment confirmed that the property qualified for a fully funded package of improvements, including an air source heat pump, hybrid boiler, new radiators, solar PV panels and battery storage, with funding secured by Agility Eco. Aura Retrofit coordinated and completed the entire installation in just three days, ensuring minimal disruption while keeping Val informed throughout the process.

The result is a warmer, more energy-efficient home with lower running costs, reduced carbon emissions and greater energy independence. Already benefiting from lower fuel bills on an Octopus Energy tariff, Val is now preparing to join the government’s Smart Export Guarantee, allowing her to earn additional income by exporting excess electricity generated by her new solar panels.

The project demonstrates how the Warm Homes: Local Grant, delivered by Aura Retrofit with professionalism and care, can provide lasting improvements to both comfort and household finances.
