At Aura Retrofit, we believe that delivering high-quality renewable heating solutions starts with understanding the products, technologies and people behind them.
That’s why members of our team recently visited Daikin Europe, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heat pump technology and HVAC-R solutions.
Founded in 1973, Daikin Europe has established itself as a global leader in heating, cooling, ventilation, air purification and refrigeration technologies. Their reputation for innovation is matched by an unwavering commitment to quality, making them a trusted partner in the transition towards more energy-efficient homes.
A culture built around quality
One of the most impressive aspects of the visit was witnessing the extensive testing procedures that every product undergoes before reaching customers. Quality assurance is embedded throughout the manufacturing process, with rigorous performance, durability and safety testing taking place at multiple stages.
From environmental simulations to long-term reliability assessments, Daikin’s commitment to quality is evident in every corner of its operations. It was clear to see that nothing is left to chance when it comes to ensuring products perform efficiently and reliably throughout their lifespan.
Continuous learning through the Daikin Europe dojo
As a Japanese company, Daikin places significant value on continuous improvement and mastery of skills. This philosophy is perfectly embodied in the company’s dedicated training facilities, known as the “Dojo.”

Inspired by traditional martial arts training environments, the Dojo provides a space where engineers, technicians and installers can refine their skills, develop technical expertise and share best practices. The concept reflects the discipline, dedication and pursuit of excellence that are deeply rooted within Japanese culture and Daikin’s approach to manufacturing and training.
The search for Europe’s best brazer
Among the many fascinating insights shared during the visit was Daikin’s annual competition to identify the best brazer in Europe.
This highly respected event brings together talented professionals from across the continent to demonstrate their technical precision and craftsmanship. The European champion then earns the opportunity to travel to Japan and compete against the very best from around the world for the ultimate title.
The competition highlights the importance Daikin places on technical excellence and serves as a reminder that even the smallest details can make a significant difference to product performance and reliability.
A different approach to the Daikin Europe working day
Visitors also had the opportunity to observe day-to-day operations within the facility. One interesting cultural difference was Daikin’s structured break schedule, which reflects a highly disciplined approach to productivity and efficiency.
Employees typically work for around two hours before taking a short eight-minute break, followed by another two-hour period before a 20-minute lunch break. While different from typical UK working patterns, the schedule appeared well established and formed part of the company’s wider culture of focus, consistency and operational excellence.

Strengthening relationships for better customer outcomes
For Aura Retrofit, visits such as this are about much more than seeing products being manufactured. They provide valuable opportunities to deepen our understanding of the technologies we install, stay informed about the latest innovations and gain first-hand knowledge from industry experts.
Equally important is the opportunity to strengthen personal relationships with manufacturers and suppliers. Building these connections helps create stronger partnerships, encourages knowledge sharing and ultimately enables us to deliver the highest standards of service to our customers.
As the demand for low-carbon heating solutions continues to grow, Aura Retrofit remains committed to investing time and effort into understanding every aspect of the products and systems we work with. Our visit to Daikin Europe is another example of the lengths we will go to ensure our teams have the knowledge, expertise and industry relationships needed to deliver quality, confidence and value for every customer.
We would like to thank the team at Daikin Europe for their hospitality, openness and willingness to share their expertise. It was an insightful and inspiring visit that reinforced the importance of quality, training and continuous improvement in everything we do.
